SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Charlotte Olympia

If you’ve been following Trends & Tribulations for a while, you are probably aware of my unhealthy obsession with a certain number of designers of the namesakes Charlotte Olympia, Sophia Webster, Nicholas Kirkwood, Giuseppe Zanotti, and Christian Louboutin.  Therefore, I try extremely hard to showcase other designers in our beloved SPT’s, basically so its not just alternating between the aforementioned 5.  Once in awhile, however, I just can’t help but show off a new shoe love.

Without further ado, I present Miss Charlotte Olympia’s ‘Mascot’ Pumps.  In a vibrant cherry red color, these are basically the epitome of classic cool, and look like they belong on the feet of our favorite It girls, like Alexa Chung or Olivia Palermo.

Pair these lovely kicks with a pair of cropped cigarette jeans or with a crisp, structured mini skirt for an all-out preppy look.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Zaha Hadid for United Nude

As technology becomes more prevalent in our lives, the emerging coinciding fashion trend seems to have an emphasis on futuristic.  Some of it is quirky (say, DVF for Google Glass), some of it innovative (3D-printed jewelry?  Yes, please), and some of it… questionable.

Meet the Nova Shoe Chrome Vinyl Wedges by Zaha Hadid for United Nude from Luisaviaroma.  This exclusive edition heel is an interesting take on the phantom heel wedge, with a 160mm Carbon fiber wedge heel and a 60mm Carbon fiber internal platform.  Although these are certainly heels that will get you noticed, I’m not so sure how much sex appeal they have.  But then again, if you feel like a sexy show stopper in these, that’s really all that matters, anyway.

CJG, $250

Chloe, $250

At first glance, these boots appear to have a lace detailing covering them, yet when one looks closer, you can see the detailed butterfly and flower art pattern throughout the body of the shoe.  I especially love how the design continues on throughout the back of the heel and bottom of the shoe, complemented by a muted turquoise color.  The perfect finishing touch: Chloe’s signature charm on the back zipper.  Simply amazing!

Aperlai is a shoe brand originating from Paris that I first found out about from, on a post called: “Shoes As Art: Aperlai”, and, naturally, I was intrigued.  After checking out their website, I definitely agreed with the statement.  The shoes are inspired by artists such Picasso, Mondrian and Pollock, and it is truly evident in the designs and patterns.  The designer, Alessandra Lanvin, uses design elements to create shoes that are as unique as the person wearing them.  Check out the rest of their Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection here.
