SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Paul Andrew

Paul Andrew has a knack for creating beautiful, sexy, and also comfortable high heels, which is a rarity among designers.  These wedge heels boast a gold geometric cutout pattern on the heel, which blend elegantly with the black satin fabric that composes the rest of the shoe.

Wear these with gold jewelry and a LBD.  ‘Nuff said.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: DSquared2

Due to the ridiculous rather high number of LBD’s & LBH’s (Little Black Heels) in my closet(s), I started to get picky when adding any more of them to my wardrobe.  They have to really tickle my fancy, per se, or, sadly, they’ll just be taking up more coveted closet space.

(Side Note: Since I moved into a new apartment earlier this summer, I had to go from two walk-in closets to a tiny little one.  Needless to say, it’s been tough, but a learning experience in minimalism…  I’ve also taken to decorating my apartment with shoes as art to make up for storage (i.e. shoes intertwined with my books, in my living room, laundry room, etc.)…)

Take, for example, these beauties from DSquared2’s Fall-Winter 2015-16 collection.  They have just enough glitz and glam to make them stand out, and simply exude sex appeal.  I love how the fringe, metal zippers, and chains give them a rock’n’roll vibe, while the all-black color keeps the sandals from looking overdone.

Wear ’em with cuffed blue denim, or with a structured leather skirt and chiffon blouse for a sexy, edgy look.

Style Inspiration: Tropical Prints

As I write this post, I am burning up from the sunlight shining on me.  Which is pretty amazing, considering I basically require the temperature around me to average 100 degrees fahrenheit, and I teach hot yoga.  But, I love it all the same: Summer!

And with summer (and tropical vacations) comes colorful fashion and summer prints.  One of my favorite prints this season is green palm trees, especially in tandem with wicker hats and espadrilles, and, of course, pink!  Check out my inspiration below for creating your own style with these fun prints.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

From running shoes to jerseys, sporty-inspired fashion is everywhere this season, and high heels are no exception.  These Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s Wave sandals playfully combine a neoprene Velcro-fastening front strap with perforated suede panels and a thin, stiletto heel.  They have a mix of sugary sweet colors, like pastel yellow, baby blue, and pale pink.  Pair ’em with a colorful cross-body bag, and a surfer skirt for the perfect balance of sporty and sweet.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: MM6 by Maison Margiela

Flatforms are 2015’s answer to 2014’s mule sandal.  Comfortable, relaxed, and a little out there, the flatform can come in various heights, shapes, and materials.  These ones by Maison Martin Margiela’s label MM6 stuck out to me, with their quirky stuffed ankle straps and pink vinyl tops.  Ultimately, if the shoe type creepers and Geta sandals had a lovechild, this is what it would look like.  Channel your inner Baby Spice, and style them with pigtails, a ring pop necklace, and (probably) a fake ID.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Golden Goose

I’m a sucker for any fashion item vaguely reminiscent of comic books or superheroes, so naturally, when I came across these cute little white and black boots from Golden Goose, I was smitten.  The chunky heel gives it a casual, laid-back vibe, and the open-toe is perfect for the spring and summer.  Pair ’em with cropped boyfriend jeans, or balance the monochrome black & white with a bright, colorful ensemble.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY

With clear-lucite heels and the perfect complement of mint and printed yellow, these Opening Ceremony sandals are perfect for a summer afternoon.  Pair them with a white sundress or a yellow jumper, throw on some sunglasses, and you’re ready to go.  Side note: That paper-thin, antithesis-of-a-platform-like toe is huuuuge this season (in case you hadn’t noticed).  I started to see them everywhere, from Louboutins to Jimmy Choos.  It reminds me a bit of bridesmaid shoes from the ’90’s, but it’s starting to grow on me (despite my love for platforms).
