SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Philipp Plein

Philipp Plein has had an interesting start.  While studying law in Germany, he began to design furniture, and soon caught the attention of interior designers.  In 1998, his company was founded, of which he focused on interiors, and in 2004, the fashion brand was born, consisting of clothing and accessories.

These heels, uniquely called “Feed Me“, flaunt the namesake’s signature aesthetic: Bold, sexy, and very rock’n’roll.  Style them with faded black skinny jeans, a t-shirt and blazer for a refined punk-rocker look, à la Kate Moss or Angelina Jolie‎.

This Summer’s Hottest Swimwear Trends

The Hottest Swimwear Trends for Summer 2016

via Fashionisers

via Fashionisers

Summer is lurking around the corner and it will be no time when we immerse our feet into the hot sand and take a swim in salty water (or at least pay a visit to your nearest swimming pool).  While the anticipation builds for all of the summer’s plans, the most important question remains: What do I wear?  Luckily, Miami Swim Week gave as pretty much a clear picture of what this swimwear season will look like, and we must admit that we are absolutely thrilled about the upcoming trends. Some trends from the last season, such as extreme cut-outs and sporty cut-away bikinis are still on the top, while we have spotted a number of new and exciting trends.

Long Sleeve Swimsuit

Spotted on Swim Week long sleeves are effectively taking over the scene. We have seen them on Belusso, 6 Shore Road, and Acacia, and we will continue on seeing them on the beaches this summer. No longer are the long sleeves reserved for surfers- now, ordinary beach visitors are wearing them, too.

Orlebar Brown Nyla cropped rash-guard top, $173

This look is a fresh take on swimwear fashion, and we salute the risk. Long-sleeve swimsuits can be found in different varieties, from sleek and sophisticated, to fun & playful.

Metallic

Melissa Obadash Sicily metallic bikini, $220

Melissa Obadash Sicily metallic bikini, $220

The beginning of the year was celebrated as the season of metallic, and there are ways for everyone to wear it. Furthermore, it is the choice of the year for weddings, so that naturally transitioned into swimwear fashion. Gottex, Belusso, and Hammoc showed us how to rock this trend (in accents or full metallic). Not only it is a great way to shine, but it will also make your sun kissed skin look even more amazing.

Sheer

Kore Swim Pyramid Top, $119.00

Kore Swim Pyramid Top,
$119.00

Remember last year’s and still present trend of cut-outs? Well, this one is a similar trend- only now, the cut-outs are covered with sheer material. The design is ideal if you want to combine your outgoing and bold personality with your more conservative side. The fabric designs are made in a way which is contouring the body, while enhancing your finest features.

High-Neck Halter

Marysia Mott Scalloped Swim Top, $143, & Bottoms, $136

High-neck halter is the ultimate hit of 2016.  Halters can be very flattering for your back & shoulders. This year’s models come in a variety of styles – from sporty to pretty prints.

Animal Prints

Brigitte Animal Print Bikini, $187.33

Brigitte Animal Print Bikini, $187.33

Animal prints perhaps seem a bit ‘80s, if you ask us, but there is no denying they will be just as big now as three-four decades ago.  Safari-vibe is very chic right now, so earthy colors & jungle animal prints look best.  They will highlight sun kissed skin.  Amp up the fashion factor with an African head wrap or a simple floppy sun hat.

Long Top

Maaji 'Lakes and Rivers' Underwire Bandeau Bikini Top & Crop Top, $74.00

Maaji ‘Lakes and Rivers’ Underwire Bandeau Bikini Top & Crop Top, $74.00

If you are on the lookout for a flattering bikini that elongates your body and looks gorgeous – search no further. The upcoming season brings us the new trend of a long top – a 2016’s take on the last year’s trend of high waist. This twist on traditional bikini top is super stylish and easy to wear for different body types.

Though we have seen so many new fashion trends on the runway, these six innovative trends stood out amongst the crowd.  Will you be wearing any of these trends on the beach this summer?  If so, which ones?

Barbie’s Got a New Look… And It’s Totally Unexpected

barbieswimsuit

With the warm weather approaching, stores are showcasing their hottest swimwear designs, and Target is no exception.  Recently, they teamed up with the iconic Barbie® doll to create a body-positive campaign.  Target asked Barbie® to model new looks inspired by Target swimsuits. Barbie® not only obliged, but added three new body types: Curvy, Petite, and Tall, and expanded the variety of skin tones and hairstyles.

The two brands collaborated to motivate women to feel great about their bodies in their swimsuits, and eliminate body insecurities.  You can shop these new dolls and swimsuits in your size here.

pantone color of the year 2016

Pantone officially declared two colors of the year for 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity.  Rose Quartz is a dusty rose hue, while Serenity is a soft, purplish blue, which represent the blending and blurring of gender lines.  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains, “In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design.  This, [with] societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Emilio Pucci

Funky suede boots are seriously trending right now in the fashion world, and these blue suede boots by Emilio Pucci are no exception.  With a gold colored heel, embellished with beads and luxe embroidery, and with a zodiac motif ford decoration, these bad boys are a serious statement boot.  I’d balance out these bold boots with a feminine, short, and flowy navy blue printed dress, or take the look up a few notches with a gold cocktail dress, like this one from Herve Leger.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: DSquared2

There are some questionable furry things happening with shoes as of lately.

First off, there are so many furry boots and shoes that I honestly cannot tell if they are an small animal or a pair of Saint Laurent boots.  Secondly, I’m all for some good fur detailing here and there, but it is my personal belief that a fur heel is off limits.  We’d be kidding ourselves if we said 95% of shoes in our closets are made for walking, but there is a line, and that line is crossed when the shoes cannot actually be used for walking (we vote! we want options!).

[Cue End of Soapbox]

Meet these Mink & Suede Pumps from DSquared2.  I honestly feel like they could be somewhat sexy from the back, given the white mink heel, except I really cannot get over the front toe.  Actually, I think the perfect description of these would be to call them mullet shoes: They are business in the front, and a party in the back.

What’s Trending: Find Your Perfect Coat For This Fall

Asymmetrical dresses had their moment, followed quickly by the asymmetrical skirt/skort combo, and this season, the asymmetrical coat is having its heyday.  With Autumn just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to update your wardrobe.  With classic styles, these are timeless pieces with a unique twist on the trend.

Check out the top picks below!

The Yang Li trench coat looks amazing when paired with the hat, but I can’t get over how much I love Gucci’s leather jacket.

What’s Trending: The Wide-Legged Pant

The wide-legged pant has been mentioned here and there in the fashion world.  However, this elusive pant style has not been seen very often on the streets or in the runways, until recently.  I’ve been on the fence with the trend, wondering if it was the new Harem Pants, a trend we never thought would make it that (unsurprisingly) didn’t.  However, recently debuted Resort 2015 collections showcased the style everywhere, from Fendi to Tory Burch.

With new styles and prints, designers showed the wide-legged pant is a new spin on workwear, as well as casual when paired with a crop top.  These new designs have made this style much more wearable.

I have a feeling these may not become bigger than The Beatles, but we will be seeing much more of this style than the almost-trendy harem pants.  What do you think of ’em?  Share your thoughts in the comments below!

What’s Trending: Red Ankle Boots

Red is a bold, yet subtle color to incorporate into your wardrobe.  One of my favorite ways to include a pop of color into your everyday outfits is through a pair of boots.  It pairs with other neutrals beautifully, and adds a sexy touch to your look.  Here are 6 red ankle boots under $100.
