David Bowie was an incredible fashion icon and so much more. In honor of his very sad passing this past Sunday, here is a throwback to a post made way back when Trends & Tribulations was in it’s infantry, highlighting the actor, singer, songwriter, producer, and painter as a fashion inspiration.

Funky suede boots are seriously trending right now in the fashion world, and these blue suede boots by Emilio Pucci are no exception. With a gold colored heel, embellished with beads and luxe embroidery, and with a zodiac motif ford decoration, these bad boys are a serious statement boot. I’d balance out these bold boots with a feminine, short, and flowy navy blue printed dress, or take the look up a few notches with a gold cocktail dress, like this one from Herve Leger.

Paula Cademartori made headlines when she debuted her first collection of handbags in 2011. Since, the Brazil-born, Milan-based designer has flourished, while staying true to her roots. With colorful prints and designs, the Brazilian influence is strong, while the fine Italian craftsmanship of her handbags is clearly evident.
Recently, the designer made her forte into shoes. These Lotus Lace-Up Sandals are inspired from Paula Cademartori’s Nouveau Risque bag series, as they celebrate the beautiful shape of a lotus flower. I love the seductive lace up front, and bright colors that blend seamlessly with the neutral tan colors. These would look ultra-chic paired with a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans, tan button-up, and a bright purple bag.

Messy buns, the simple go-to hairstyle of celebrities, businesswomen, and the rest of the female population alike, look effortlessly chic and carefree. Meet the low messy bun, a quick variation of the classic mess, yet with a new element of the same bohemian vibe.
Use a texturizing spray (I highly recommend the cult classic from Oribe) to create beautiful beach waves. Then, gather all your hair from behind, fold in half, and use a hair band to secure the bun. Voila!

Today celebrates the 28th Birthday of the It-Twins who so many of us have admired since they were in diapers in Full House. Growing up, I idolized Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen‘s sense of style, and spent my allowance money on anything they were wearing that week (while singing to “Gimme Pizza”, of course). It’s amazing that we are still idolizing their unique styles over 20 years later.

Courtney Love has a signature style that embodies 90’s grunge in the perfect and most fashionable way possible. Yes, there may be many people who hate her, but you have to give the girl some credit- she can rock flannel like none other. Here is an outfit inspired by the rock’n’roll princess herself.
