SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Gucci

I’ve always had to hand it to Gucci for their impeccable shoes.  However, I recently stumbled across these, and feel, well, dizzy…  Kind of like how I feel when I see pretty much anything by Rick Owens.  That being said, I’m sure these are extremely comfortable, but we all know that doesn’t count for anything in the fashion world.  Props to anyone who would actually wear these and not scream at the top of your lungs when you notice that your feet have grown Shih Tzu’s on them….Bless.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Rick Owens (NSFW)

I’m going to confess something that 90% of people in the fashion world will find atrocious: I don’t love Rick Owens.  In all nonsensical honesty, I feel like Rick Owens’ designs are an inside joke that I just don’t get, and I’m stuck smiling awkwardly…while I wonder if anyone else *really* gets it either.

Rick Owens F/W 2015-16 Runway

Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2015-16 Runway

For example, his Fall 2015 runway show where he sent his male models down the runway wearing clothing that exposed their genitals.  Or his extremely unconventional Spring 2014 show where he featured anything but your average size 0 models.  I can totally respect avant garde fashion and pushing the limits of creativity, however, I feel as though these bizarre stunts are just that- stunts to get noticed.

I believe the clothing of fashion designers should speak for itself- and be unique and amazing enough to capture the attention of the public.

I will say, however, that this matte leather mule by Rick Owens is certainly one hell of a conversation starter, and would complement any “cavewoman chic” wardrobe.  Wear ’em with a cozy, suede cloak, or perhaps a solid pair of assless leather chaps.  Of course, if you are feeling a little more wild, pair ’em with one of those classy genital-exposing cloaks (or something like that).

Best of Paris Fashion Week (to date)

It’s hard to believe Paris fashion week is almost coming to an end, marking the end of the top fashion weeks around the globe.  Despite the fact we still have a few amazing shows to look forward to (ahem, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, MiuMiu- to name a few…), there has been so many amazing collections, I couldn’t resist showing the highlights.  Some of the main fashion trends I noticed for Spring/Summer are minimalism, tons of leather and lace, and very feminine silhouettes and shapes, many reminiscent of the 1920’s and 1950’s.
