SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Nicholas Kirkwood

What better way to wear a pop of color than on your feet?

Colorblocked shoes were seen all over the Spring 2015 runways, from blue & pink at Versace to green, blue, pink, & yellow at Burberry.  Nicholas Kirkwood shows off his unique style with an orange, yellow, pink, & blue pump adorned with a chunky silver metallic heel.  Although it seems at first glance it would be difficult to pair such a colorful shoe with many outfits, I’ve found that the more colors in a shoe, the easier it tends to be, as each one of the subtle colors blends perfectly with a solid color outfit on top.  Or, pick one or two of the colors, and match it with a printed dress in the corresponding color, and voilà!  A perfectly styled outfit that’s right on trend.

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Donald Robertson x Brian Atwood

Screen Shot 2015-03-06 at 6.08.58 PM

What happens when two of your favorite people come together to create your favorite accessory?  A magical, epic trifecta of #shoepornthursday, of course!  Enter Donald ‘Drawbertson’ Robertson, creative director of Estée Lauder & who was also dubbed the “Andy Warhol of Instagram“.  Just take a look (if you have been hiding under a rock and haven’t yet) at his whimsical illustrations on Instragram (@DonaldDrawbertson)  and try not to smile (spoiler alert: it won’t work).  So naturally, when I noticed some of his art on the one and only Brian Atwood‘s heels, I got super giddy (’cause, duh).

Check these bad boys, known as “Gitte Lips“, out for yourself, available in three different styles.

First, the platform sandal style, which would look fabulous paired with wide-legged dark denim jeans and a tucked in white blouse.

Or, there’s the cage-inspired sandal design:

And finally, the very classic, closed-toe, high-enough-but-not-overtly-high, “I have an ankle-strap I’m so freaking adorable” pump:

Personally, I love the pump pictured first (which may or may not be because of a recent unhealthy chunky heel obsession).  What do you think of the collab?  Are you a Donald Robertson obsessee, like me?

SHOE PORN THURSDAY: Bionda Castana

Shoe label Bionda Castana, which means Blonde Brunette in Italian, is named after the British footwear designers’ nickname.  The duo, Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri, combine Italian craftsmanship with their edgy London roots and old-world luxury.  Each pair of shoes are crafted in a remote town outside of Milan.

For their Spring 2015 line, they focused on giving patterns a sophisticated makeover.  Grids, dots, and stripes are all staples, while paying homage to the glamour of the 1950’s and 60’s.

Check out these ‘Bay’ pumps below, featuring a monochrome black and white grid print and transparent mesh side detailing.

I’m having a difficult time deciding whether I like the gold or very similar ones in white better…
