SHOE PORN THURSDAY: DSquared2

DSquared2 is one of those super awesome labels that just exude a certain cool attitude, with a unique IDGAF kind of feel.  And these skeleton heel ankle boots are totally in on it (and kind of perfect for the Halloween season…).  The outsides of the boots have a shoelace-inspired lace-up closure that reminds me of equal parts Frankenstein and football, which isn’t an easy feat to pull off.

Wear them with anything and everything during any months ending in -ber.

How To Pose Like a Fashion Blogger

p18g2387fn1obo1sij12moqosv0a4

It’s amazing how self-aware we become when a camera is pointed at us.  Suddenly, your arms seem like they’re 5 feet long, and what did you ever do with them before?  These awkward hands?  Why didn’t I pay more attention in Top Model when Tyra was explaining how to smize?!

Luckily for you, ModaMob analyzed 7 of the top street style bloggers, and their signature ways they like to strike a pose.  Take some inspiration from them, and soon, you’ll be comfortable enough in front of the camera to find your own unique style.

ModaMob explains the details:

The Man Repeller: The key here is not to look like you’re having fun, but to actually be having fun.

The Song of Style: This one’s all about legs. Turn slightly and lock your knees. Easy peasy.

The Fashion Toast: A great one if you’re camera shy – just tilt your head down and play it cool.

The Blonde Salad: Keep your body loose or else this one can look extremely pose-y.

The Style Bubble: Having an awkward moment? Go with it!

Gabi Fresh: This one’s our favorite; it’s not about what angle makes you look slimmer or taller. It’s about working it, plain and simple.

The Anna Dello Russo: You’re a rare bird of fashion, act like it.

A Few of My Favorite Things: High Heels, Polaroids & Eniko Toth Kern

First off, hope you all had a fantastic New Years, and, if you’re anything like me, you are probably nursing a hangover rather than your abs at the gym like a good, old fashioned citizen.  Therefore, I’ll keep it rather simple.

Eniko Toth Kern is a Hungarian designer who recently graduated in 2011, but her Spring/Summer 2013 shoe collection has debuted with some serious attention.  Photographed on gritty, retro-style polaroids, her collection embodies everything high heels should: a mysterious anonymity, a raw type of sex appeal, and a unique beauty.  See the photos after the jump.

MarquisMontes: GOLDFISH

Photographers Jose Enrique Montes Hernandez and Valérie Boulet are the creative force behind MarquisMontes.  Although pretty much all of their work is simply outstanding, this particular campaign titled “GOLDFISH” is stunning.  The fashion pieces are amazing, and the photos are inspiring.  Take a look for yourself below.

Remi Rebillard: The Contrast of Youth & Urban Decay

Photographer Remi Rebillard used an abandoned factory (for 50 years) in Brussels to show the contrast of age and decay of the location against the playfulness and freshness of youth.  The models are Lola and Eva Michal, who embody life and beauty, and these photos highlighting the divergence look stunning.

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M Campaign Shots Revealed

Maison Martin Margiela and H&M are collaborating on a highly-anticipated line, and lucky for us, the photos from the campaign have been leaked.  It appears as though the French fashion house is keeping to its style, despite the lower price points.  Although many were initially surprised by this collaboration, Maison Martin Margiela explained its motives in a press release, saying “The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further.”  Catch a glimpse of what you’ll be seeing in stores via the photos below, shot by photographer and film director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Anja Rubik Models Saint Laurent Collection

Alas, the unofficial photos showing the clothes and the new Saint Laurent Paris campaign have been released onto the YSL website.  The model is Anja Rubik, and she is wearing the clothes straight off the runway from Paris Fashion Week.  The photos were shot in YSL couture salons, and were presumably photographed by Hedi Slimane (as he also photographed the house’s accessory campaign).

A New Kind of Fashion: Constrvct

Constrvct is a unique fashion site that recently caught my eye.  It isn’t that much of a surprise that this concept was created by Continuum Clothing, the same makers of the world’s first 3D printed bikini.  The company’s founders’ goal is to create a “social fashion label” that reflects on the creativity of the people who wear them.

Basically, the concept of the application is it is a kind of do-it-yourself design.  The site offers a few classic silhouettes where the user can create their own design on by uploading photos or images that are turned into digitally printed clothing.  The artwork and cutting pattern are printed onto the fabric with inkjet textile printing.  Not only does the user get to design the print, they also can design everything from the tag-less printed labels to the packaging.

Here are some examples of the designs and styles of the clothing.

The founders have an ultimate goal to achieve a truly crowdsourced fashion design by allowing anyone to publish, and even sell, their own collection, with full production and retail ready to go.  They are currently working on more designs and are set to launch in Fall 2012.  You can read more about Constrvct here.

What do you guys think of the concept?
