Burberry Spring/Summer 2016 Runway
Capes were all over the Fall/Winter 2015 runways, and the trend easily transitioned to the Spring and Summer 2016 runway, with the introduction of cape dresses, tops, ponchos, and sleeveless vests.
There were robe-inspired capes as sleeves at Zuhair Murad; flowing, long capes as the trains of gowns at Guo Pei; sheer, floor-length capes worn separately over dresses and jumpsuits at Chanel; and capes as sleeves to the gowns at Ralph & Russo. Capes infuse the class & glamour of the 1920’s into a modern look that feels new and reinvented.

Up until 2014 when Alessandro Michele took the reigns as the new creative director of Gucci, the label had lost some of its luster in recent times (aka: post the reign of Tom Ford). Sure, they had maintained a luxury status due to their monogram and the loyal customer base, but essentially, it just hadn’t kept up with the ever changing world of fashion.

Enough lingering on the past. The point being, is that Alessandro Michele is a freaking genius, and he’s dolled up the fashion house real pretty since coming into office. After his first Gucci presentation in February last year he said, “It’s been 20 years since Tom worked his magic at Gucci. The world is completely different. What women want is completely different.” Amen.
After their fashion-forward September catwalk show last season, they became Net-a-Porter’s second best-selling brand. Naturally, the shoes have become a game-changer once again, with sky-high platforms, and enough studs to officially dub them a lethal weapon. I’ve always had to hand it to Gucci for their impeccable shoes. However, I recently stumbled across these, and feel, well, dizzy… Kind of like how I feel when I see pretty much anything by Rick Owens. That being said, I’m sure these are extremely comfortable, but we all know that doesn’t count for anything in the fashion world. Props to anyone who would actually wear these and not scream at the top of your lungs when you notice that your feet have grown Shih Tzu’s on them….Bless.

I recently stumbled across these gold Gucci “Marmont” pumps, and ever since, have been unable to stop imagining how perfectly they would look with an amazing pair of dress pants or a midi skirt… Even peeking out of a pair of flared blue jeans for a put-together weekend look.
The chunky heel is sensible enough to walk around in all day without, well, dying, and the elegance of the gold signature Gucci logo is balanced out by the preppy fringe on the toe, making this a perfect choice for both the office, after-work cocktails, and pretty much everything in-between.

From taxi shoes to masquerade masked heels to the infamous Sophia Webster pencil heels, I have a more than unhealthy obsession of shoes. However, there’s one thing missing. I have no red heels.
