Nasty Gal recently released their Holiday 2012 Lookbook titled “Diamond Girl”, which has me wishing for a holiday vacation. The scenes are playful and sexy. Their most prominent trends include cut-outs, brightly-dyed fur, and lots of shiny pieces adorned with colorful sequins. See for yourself after the jump.
These Mojito Shoes are the product of Julian Hakes, a London-based architect with an amazing success story. He first released early concept images of the design for a new ladies fashion footwear concept on design blog Dezeen. Later that evening, the editor of Dezeen called Julian to tell him his design had gone viral. Blogger Gizmodo snapped up the story and registered over 100,000 hits within hours. A few days later, a well-known ex-model in New York called Julian Hakes requesting 2 pairs in her size for an upcoming show, in which Julian realized he needed to make this concept into a reality. With help from bloggers and fashion followers, the concept was made into a conceptual reality. After 2 years, Hakes has been working to refine every delicate, sculptural curve and twist to make this a very light, comfortable and elegant design. Hakes team is busy making this design a reality and we will expect to have the first collection ‘The Hakes Mojito’ ready for the summer party season.
United Bamboo, designers of human clothes, released a Cat Calendar featuring cats wearing United Bamboo designer clothing in 2010 and after, they thought people were pretty sick of cats. To their surprise, in 2011, everyone was asking where the calendar was. So, they decided to make it a regular thing.
In fact, they enjoyed dressing up the cats in designer clothing so much, they made a line just for your favorite furry felines, featuring the clothing in the cat calendars. That means you can purchase a cat-sized piped blazer ($69), cat-sized one-shoulder bow-embellished LBDs ($49), and cat-sized double-breasted peacoats ($89)! The 2013 calendar is not yet out yet, but you can pre-order it here for $40. In case you’re lacking inspiration to style your pet, here are some helpful outfit ideas United Bamboo offers on their website.
There are two staples that every woman needs in lieu of autumn and winter: a trench and a pair of boots. The search for the perfect pair is seemingly endless, but, alas, here is a guide of some of the hottest boots of the season in every style.
I was recently wandering around Chelsea Markets in the East Village, and stumbled across “Artists & Fleas Pop-Up Shop“. If you guys live nearby, I definitely recommend checking it out (It goes ’till December 17th!). Anyway, one of the designers there especially stuck out to me, with his innovative designs and interesting concepts. I spoke with Tom for a bit, and his shop is known as Sohung Designs. All of the pieces are handmade and originally designed (for both men and women). Take a look at the photos from his collection below:
I’m so in love with this video from the Fall/Winter DSquared2 campaign:
In recent times, every time I see flats, the line from 30 Rock comes to mind where Jack is describing Avery, and says, “And she always wears high heels, because, according to her, flat shoes are for quitters.” Nonetheless, these quirky flats from Nicholas Kirkwood are obviously so darn cute they are exempt from such a statement. Enjoy, and have a great Thanksgiving!
