What’s Trending: Under the Stars
Galaxy print has been everywhere lately, from celebrities to my favorite Jeffrey Campbells (see Shoe Porn post below). Christopher Kane does an excellent job incorporating the print into apparel, seen above. The trend is best worn with minimal jewelry for a super chic look.
Unlikely Fashion Inspiration: Marilyn Manson
Marilyn Manson has a style of his own. With all of the studs, spikes and crosses so fashionable right now, I used him as an inspiration for this stylish outfit.
SHOE PORN THURSDAY
These beauties, my friend, are Charlotte Olympia‘s matryoshka suede heels. And, yes, the darling little matryoshka doll is indeed winking. For those of you unfamiliar with these Russian dolls, they are wooden dolls with each a smaller copy of the subsequent doll, of which are placed inside one other, and represent the design in many worldly objects which tend to mimic the concept of an “object-within-a-similar-object”. I love the fun, floral print on the toes, and the black laser-cut suede is gives a unique and intricate aesthetic. They run a high price tag at $1565, but you can find ‘em here.
Fashion News: Gun Manufacturer Launches Louis Vuitton Grip Handgun
Why? “We have a real demand to cater to gun enthusiasts who also have a desire to look stylish, hence our foray into Louis Vuitton gun accessories” says the managing partner of Machine Guns Vegas, who released the gun (without the rights to the logo because Louis Vuitton has absolutely nothing to do with this accessory). Summer Read: Overdressed
Overdressed’s author Elizabeth Cline offers a look at fast fashion from an different perspective , enlightening readers of the negative effects it is having on our planet , our culture and general well-being. Not only so, it is having a negative effect on our wardrobe. “The thing about cheap fashion is that you often wind up with a closet full of deals rather than a closet full of clothing you’ll actually wear,” Cline tells readers. But do not worry, the book is not about reprimanding consumers for buying cheap clothing, it instead was written to help readers find viable solutions for the issue of fast fashion. Some of the solutions highlighted in Overdressed include:
- Know that you get what you pay for.
- Learn how to spot value.
- Learn to sew.
- Hire a tailor.
- Buy from independent and local designers and boutiques.
- Buy from secondhand or vintage shops.

A flower crown for your head looks feminine, yet unique, and is laid-back chic paired with tousled beach waves.
